My church recorded our youth album this weekend and as part of the youth conference, we organised a social justice project and this year we cleaned and fixed up Doonside High School, anyway we were meant to be at the school at 7 am on Saturday to start the clean up and painting etc..
Friday night, Sath was online so I ask her to print up a map to get to the school (I still have no street directory!) and I head off to bed quite early.
The next morning I take the map and start out.. get there.. and there's no-one... Hmn.. maybe I'm at the wrong entrance.. so I drive around the school.. when I get to the sign it reads “Doonside Primary” Great! She's printed up a map to get to the wrong school... after thinking of some choice words to say to her when I see her next, I ask a kind local for directions to the correct school..
We were allocated some classrooms and I started cleaning graffiti on the chairs and tables – I understand the need to leave a mark on the world but a classroom desk is the wrong place for it !
Then I started on the biggest challenge ever.. cleaning gum from under tables.. I never realised chewing gum came in so many different colours.. quite the learning experience.
The album recording on Sat night was amazing ! The new songs on the album are great, I thought last years were pretty good but I think this year's might be better :) After the album recording, Fiona and I went to a Thai restaurant and chatted for a bit.
